You can eliminate the high markups of the local florist by creating your own arrangements. Who better to give you exactly what you have envisioned? Most of us begin dreaming up our ideal wedding from child hood down to the tiny details that set the scene for our perfect day. We don't realize that money plays a factor when it comes to transforming those dreams into reality. Never fear, being your own florist isn't as intimidating as you may think.

1. Begin pulling pictures out of magazines to get an idea of what you want, sometimes it's easier to create a masterpiece if you have a few examples of what you like. Don't be afraid to go bold, it's your day and if it makes you happy then that's all that matters. Once you have a few ideas decide what you like best from each one and why you were drawn to that piece. Using all of the aspects that drew you to those arrangements decide how you want to lay your floral arrangements out.

2. Take a trip to your local craft store to gather your supplies. Usually you can find a wide variety of containers. If you are on a tight budget you might want to check the clearance section. If you want a low arrangement opt for a table top bowl or shallow vase. For a taller centerpiece you might find that a high vase works well or an out of the ordinary container such as a pillar candle holder with a tall stemmed base and an etched glass candle holder. These can add a dramatic effect to your tables and allow the guest to talk freely across the tables. Purchase floral foam, you soak this product in water, trim it to fit your desires container, and insert your fresh flowers. Since they are in water you don't have to worry about wilting and if the arrangement is knocked over it will not spill all over your guests.

3. Visit your local grocery stores floral counter, there you will get an idea of cost and you can order the amount of flowers you will need to endure that they will be available for your big day. Don't forget that you will problem need fillers, there are many types of greenery so examine what they offer and chose one with a leaf that will compliment your arrangements. If the flowers you want are a little too expensive order a few of those and chose another low cost flower to fill in the gaps making your first choice the shining star in your centerpieces. If you have to cut costs make sure that you don't compromise on your bouquet, remember that's by far the most important floral arrangement that you will have, it showcases the bride and will appearing many of your photographs.

4. Recruit friends and family. If you happen to have a friend or family member that's a bit on the crafty side or had been said to have a flair for the dramatic when it comes to decorating don't be shy about asking them to lend a hand. It can be a great time to bond with your bridal party while you and hand tying your bouquets. They can all be uniform or a bit different for a subtle contrast. Arrange the flower you wish every one to use in their pieces, give them instructions and the tools to create the works of art. Don't forget about the guys, you need to create the flower for their lapels. Not only will this approach have saved you some money, you will have created memories that will last a life time.

5. Have someone designated to transport and set up the arrangements. Give them detailed instructions on how you want the centerpieces set up. If desired label each one with a table number to ensure that they are in the appropriate position. Grab your bouquets and head off for your shining moment.
