Yes we can. What we didn't know was this Greyhound X was bearing 7 Puppies.
We had absolutely no idea.
She was one more night away from being put down along with all of the unborn pups.
The phone call from the Greyhound rescue agency was pretty panicked.
We haven't anyone else can you please take her until we can re-home her.
Yes we can soon turned into um how are we going to do that? we were both previously committed?
The dog is a hundred kilometers approximately 70 miles away round trip.
We ask a favour and a brothers girlfriend does a quick dash down to pickup the dog.
She sends us a picture of the dog it's a fawn colour but has a strange looking head?
We ask what the temperament is like? and wonder if it will be OK with our dogs?
The anxiety begins and ends 5 minutes after her arrival.
She's a sweetie.
She's very sick.
She has kennel cough and looks undernourished she looks completely wrong?
We assume she's been starved of food.
She eats like a horse.
Actually she eats like 2 horses which are really hungry!
We discuss exactly how much she ate and what is normal?
We conducted a frantic search on the web for parental advice.
She sleeps on the couch and we look after her for 2 weeks.
The kennel cough is gone.
She looks all puffy in her face? We discuss what is with this dog?
What type of cross breed is this?
We internet search the dog breed information and find Wiemarana.
Look look that looks right the photo we have taken is very similar.
We are distracted by other things when the first puppy is born.
There is lots of screaming.
We are awoken and told "the dogs having a puppy?"
We answer "Which dogs having a puppy?"
We own several other dogs one male and one fixed female we are quite stupid. (Hey we were sleeping ok!)
The little puppy is in a little sacky beanbagy skin thing. What the hell is that?
The mother dog breaks it and a puppy pops out.
Number one is cute in fact very very cute. Aww.
Number arrives Hey another one! This is cool.
Three? Cool more I wonder how many she'll have?
Four OK now are we there yet?
No Five Wow there can't be any more surely
Six OK there's more.
Seven? Oh my.......I roughly do the math and we now have a house with 11 dogs legally I know we are allowed 2? maybe 3? but 11?
The mother dog we name Shimah.
We name the puppies
Hummer (Red Marone Colour with blue eyes)
Riley (Tan Fawn)
Latte (Creamy Coloured)
Expresso (Darker Brown)
Cassey (Brown and Tan)
Stubbles (Grey and White) So cute.
Connor (Tan light brown)
The colours range from one end of the rainbow to the other.
Fawn - Grey and White
Mother dog Shimah goes to sleep happy her magnificent 7 have landed safely on soft ground.
We kept Riley he's actually a Great Dane X Greyhound.
He is a beautiful, well mannered, cuddly, Great Dane-hound.
