Many people have many different beliefs. The main religion in most places is Christianity. I honestly believe that a great number of the so called "Christians" today know anything about what religion should really be about. Yeah, sure you should spread the word and love each and every one on the planet, blah blah blah. Why is it that everyone decided to stop talking about this religion and decided to start trying to shove it down everyone's throat?
I personally don't believe there is one certain religion that is right or any that are wrong. I believe everyone has the concept of argument stuck in there heads and they are taking it to levels it should not be taken. You shouldn't put others down for believing in something, for that is what true religion is all about.
The bible states:
Luke chapter 6 (GWT)
37 "Stop judging, and you will not be judged.
Stop condemning, and you will not be condemned.
Forgive, and you will be forgiven.
38 Give, and you will receive. A large quantity, pressed together, shaken down, and running over will be put into your pocket.
The standards you use for others will be applied to you."
For as long as I can remember I have been nothing but judged by most Christians. Most churches I have ever gone to, I walk in and get glared at like I am "The Devil." All because of how I dress, the length of my hair, and the piercings on my face. If Christianity is about loving everyone and not judging your fellow humans. Then what religion are these people actually following now?
James chapter 2 (TEV)
1 My friends, as believers in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, you must never treat people in different ways according to their outward appearance.
As I stated, in most of my experiences, I was judged for my outward appearance. Therefore, in my opinion, this is something that was lost in the Christian beliefs.
Too many people are caught up in trying to change the words of the Bible to fit the ways they wish to follow, rather than looking up to find that they are only putting those down which have everything in common with themselves. In my eyes, believing is believing. What you believe in may differ, but believing in something is all that matters.
I don't believe in a god, but I do believe in religion. Religion, to me, isn't just believing in a god/gods and following only that which is written in a book. Religion, to me, is believing in yourself and all those around you.
