Polite ways to tell people you don't want to talk to them right now

Sometimes, silence is golden. The ability to talk to people using high tech devices such as telephones, computer microphones, and cell phones has created a world of noise and constant talking. However, there are times when we just want to unwind and relax in silence. But, how can y ou tell people politely that you don't want to talk to them when you are relaxing? The following article will help give you a few polite ways to keep your peace and quiet.

Just say "no"

There are "yes" people and there are "no" people, and there are people in between. It is best to be a person who has both "yes" and "no" control. If you are a "yes" person and you tend to put others' needs above your own, you will need to learn how to say "no" at the appropriate times. If you want to relax, or you really need your peace and quiet, do not be afraid to just say "no." Give your reasons why and much of the time, people will understand.

"TTYL"

In Internet lingo, "ttyl" stands for "talk to you later." This is what you need to say when y ou don't want to talk to anyone at the moment. It is not difficult to do, and it is a kind of promise. Remember that if it is not an emergency, it can wait for later.

You've got pressing matters

Maybe you have somewhere important to go to, or maybe you just want to get out of a hairy situation. Just tell others that you have "pressing matters" that must be taken care of. Most people will understand, but some people will take the comment negatively. If they do, just tell them that it is not because you don't like them. It is because you really have pressing matters that need more attention, such as your bodily or mental health.

Turn off the phone

If you get a phone call and you don't have the time to talk, just tell the other person any one of the excuses above. However, if you expect that you have important things to do throughout the day, turning off your cell phone may be a good idea. Make sure to have another phone on just in case of emergencies.

Being polite but saying no at the same time is a hard task. After all, we don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. However, if you really don't want to talk to others right now, you have a right not to do so.
