The family has gone
The tears still linger
And Leftovers still sit, warm on the table
The words that were said
The ones that pierced through my heart
Did you really mean them?
Did you mean to tear our relationship apart?
And Leftovers still sit, cooling on the table
How did the fight even begin
On this Thanksgiving day?
Is this what the normal family does
For their holiday?
My thoughts are overwhelmed
Repeating every word that was said
Love has been crushed
All trust I had is now dead
And Leftovers still sit, now cold on the table
A mother, a daughter
A relationship broken
That bond was so special
But so many hurtful things were spoken
And Leftovers still sit, now spoiling on the table
This can't be fixed
The pain is too deep
This can't be fixed
This can't be fixed
And Leftovers still sit, forever spoiled on the table

Poetry: Leftovers

The room: white, austere and cold,
Not a pleasant place to be.
And there sitting on the floor,
Two frightened children of three.
While shopping for Thanksgiving's feast,
I spied the most enormous beast,
thirty pounds of meat at least!
I hauled it to

Brought on by non-compliance,

I had the menu all planned out,
I knew what I was making.
The turkey, stuffed and in the pan,
The pumpkin pies were baking.
Your Leftovers
Another holiday has come and gone.
All the family has packed there bags
And left for the long trip home.
