Angels are broadly viewed as messengers of God. Angels are real and I believe this because the scripture says so. All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 2 Tim 3:16. To doubt the reality of angels is to doubt the entire Bible and this is a sin in Christianity.

Satan the Devil

The spirit being who turned to Satan the Devil was an Angel of God originally called Lucifer. Of him Prophet Isaiah was inspired to write; How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations! You said in your heart, "I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High." But you are brought down to the grave, to the depths of the pit. Isaiah 14:12-15. Many people believe devil is real today, and if that is so, angels are real.

Sodom and Gomorrah

Archaeological data has confirmed that the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah were real. Here, is a passage from http://www.bibleplus.org/discoveries/sodomfound.htm At the south end of the beautiful, yet barren Dead Sea area, there is a mountain known as Mt. Sodom. It is adjacent to this area that the city of Sodom was located. The Bible indicates that there were more than just the two cities of Sodom and Gomorrah that were destroyed that day. So far, at least 5 cities have been discovered that were turned to ash and have sulfur balls strewn throughout them. The location of each of these was found by scrutinizing satellite maps of the area, locating geometric shapes, particularly square or rectangular areas. Visits to each location, with the subsequent finding of a city turned to ash and many sulfur balls (brimstone in the King James Version of the Bible), provided confirmation. Angels were sent by God to make destruction of the sinful cities and of the angels, Gen 19:1 recorded that The two angels arrived at Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gateway of the city. When he saw them, he got up to meet them and bowed down with his face to the ground. Lot, Sodom and Gomorrah were real and therefore, the Angels who saved Lot but destroyed Sodom were also real.

Jesus and John the Baptist

The scripture is all about Jesus. It contains prophecies of his coming, his work when he came, and the continuation of his work by the Holy Spirit residing inside Christians. The birth of Jesus was announced by an Angel called Gabriel. This same Angel, in his earlier discussion with Zachariah when he announced the birth of John the Baptist, said I am Gabriel! I stand in the very presence of God. It was he who sent me to bring you this good news! Lk 1:10. Mary, Jesus, Zachariah, Elizabeth and John the Baptist were real people, so how could the Angel who spoke to them be imaginary? Angels are real.
