Title: Silver Lining
He clutched at his chest where the shot found its mark
Disbelieving the truth that was clear
Family images blurred as the light became dark
And reality overcame fear
Searing pain coursing through him, he stumbled and fell
Desperate breath, yet unable to speak
As the visage displayed left him shocked beyond words
The smoke cleared, his heart started to break
There were no masked gunmen, anonymous robbers
He was not a victim of chance
This ambush, the end of a plot calculated
His blood on his family's hands
From birth he had trusted his parents and siblings
To keep their bond until the end
So without a family to be there beside him
Thank God he can lean on his friends

Thanksgiving dinners each working hard for the family to enjoy,
