Why we make bad choices in life

by MACUB

WE MAKE BAD CHOICES IN LIFE BECAUSE WE ARE SELFISH, VAIN, AND DO NOT HAVE ALL OF THE INFORMATION NECESSARY TO MAKE AN 'INFORMED CHOICE'.

We, mortals/humans/God's creation make bad choices in life because we are selfish, vain, lack necessary knowledge and are often disobedient. We do not accept warnings or other's life experience as being relevant to our life or particular situation. Apparently any advise is for 'the other guy/girl' and not 'me' because 'I' am 'perfect'. This is basically the same type of rationale that a drunk or high person uses when they 'decide' to drive themselves home; only to find out later that their action of 'driving' caused personal injury, death, and/or property damage. In this situation, however, there are many times the drunk/impaired person is not hurt. Making bad choices can injure you mentally, physically, financially, spiritually, and it can change your life's course.

Parent's attempt to steer their children away from persons who would harm them or who have a track record of being 'users'. Users, here, is defined as a person who would be totally self-seeking regardless of the harm that they would cause another; takers with no ethical or moral upbringing.

Peers warn you of relationships that are detrimental to you, but your vanity and need to be 'accepted' by persons who appear to have greater status than you drives you toward them; to learn their ways. This is a great trap since some people would 'sell their souls' to make minor skips in educational, career, or relationship status.

Even with a 'multitude' of counselors, some proceed to worsen their lives repeatedly; as though they were on a 'negative feedback/result'-drug. The thought of having a positive outcome may even seem unimaginable. With the concept of reaping and sowing; a few 'good' decisions can turn your entire life around. And, when in doubt: think.
