How we love to travel, better still how we love to travel to countries on a long flight. Because travelling to countries on a long flight means that, we are travelling to far off places that might be exotic or full of world history.
Nevertheless, travelling to these countries can be quite boring, yes, the country will be interesting, but the flight will undoubtedly be boring. Let's face it you will first have to wait for your flight this will be at least three hours in todays high security world, and before that you will have travelled to the airport. So before, you have even boarded your flight you will have been sitting in a taxi or your car, and then you will have been sitting in the airport lounge for at least four hours.
Then you have a ten-hour or more flight a head of you depending to what country you will be travelling too.
So how can we pass the time on the flight? Well I like travelling at night because in all fairness, night is when most of us sleep, and that to me is one of the best ways to pass the time of day, or should I say night on a long flight. Get your head down for a few hours even if it's only for a few short hours you will find that the time that you are asleep will have flown.
If you cannot sleep then try a good book, depending on the book you will read it for either the full flight or you will fall asleep as you read it.How about a few snacks while on board, quite a few people when they are bored will snack, chocolate sweets crisps. Then there is the on board entertainment, on all long distance flights there will be films to watch and music to listen to.
In todays high tech world we now can work on our laptops while flying, for the children that are with us we can buy them the small hand held computers that they can play there favourite computer games on.
For the more old fashioned of us, we can take a book of puzzles on board, puzzles like Sudoku, Kakuro, Hidato, will keep you puzzled for most of the flight along with the old favourite the crossword.
Again for the children, we can play the game of I spy with my little eye, and as long as they do not shout out the answer so disturbing the passengers that want a little peace and quiet it will be a great sense of amusement for them as they try to guess what you have spotted.
Long flights can be boring, they can also be a good way to make new friends, we can stroll about the deck getting a little bit of exorcise, there will be like minded people doing the same thing, what a good way to pass the time of day or night chatting to new found friends.
Long flights can be quite boring, they can also be a great way to find new friends, to read a great book, to find the lost art of doing puzzles to watch that film you never got around of seeing or to listen to the music that you promised yourself that you would one day. You can just wistfully watch the fluffy clouds go by, and sometimes see the most glorious sunrise or sunset that you have ever witnessed, a long flight is what ever you make it.
