A "Christian worldview" is an explanation of the world and an application of this view to life from a Christian standpoint. Every worldview, whether Christian or non- Christian, give answers to at least these three questions. Where did we come from? What is wrong with the world? How can we fix it? In the Christian world view the answers to these questions are found in the Bible and these form the basis for the five foundations of the Christian worldview.
God is the creator. He created the universe and he created us in his image to have fellowship with him. The universe does not exist by itself but it depends upon God. God is infallible and God is Sovereign Lord of everything that He brought into existence. Nothing exists that did not come into being by God. We are His creation and our fate depends upon our relationship with him.
Mankind sinned against God and put the whole world under a curse. When Adam fell he bought sin, guilt and death to the whole human race. The fall brought about a separation from God and a loss of fellowship with God. This resulted in spiritual death which leads to physical death. God considers sin as the universal condition of the human race. After Adam, everyone who is born is born with a sinful nature. We are all born spiritually dead and as sinners we have become transgressors of God's law.
Subsequently, God sent His only begotten Son for all those who believe. In other words, God made provision for redemption of the world through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ. As sinners we were unable to reconcile ourselves to God. God sent the Messiah, promised in scriptures, to die and be resurrected so that man can receive eternal hope, the hope of salvation. Jesus Christ is the Savior and those who believe on Him will be saved.
One day God is going to restore creation to its former perfect state. At that time there will be the triumphant return of Christ in His glory as King of kings and Lord of lords. Everyone will then be judged and will know their final destiny. Those who have believed on Jesus will reign with Him.
Finally, the Scriptures, the word of God, inform the believer's worldview. The Christian's values and beliefs and those things that fashion our lives are based on God's word. The Scriptures are viewed as God's ultimate authority. Christianity, as it is taught in the Bible is a worldview of itself and it is the only life that a believer knows.
A worldview is all-inclusive and as such, it affects every area of life. It guides the believer in areas of morality, money, politics, and every other facet of life. Jesus should always be the focus of the Christian's worldview since all five foundations ultimately lead to Him.
