Poetry: Last wish

LITTLE WISHES

When I was five,

I wished that I could be a rose,

A rose that didn't fail to attract the eyes of people,

but I changed my mind when the thorns pricked my little finger.

When I was six,

I wish that I could continue running alone around the mango tree at kindergarden,

but I had to go across that green gate and never looked back.

When I was seven,

I wished that I could hug the Earth, my mother laughed at my childish thoughts,

but I still hugged the globe.

When I was eight,

I wished for my best friends to stay with me for eternity,

but at thirteen I learned that somethings just doesn't stay in life.

When I was nine,

I wished to be among the diamond brains in future

and for that my desk was filled with workbooks.

When I was ten,

I wished that telenovelas never had an ending,

but I found out that everyman's life has an end

but not everyone's imagination.

When I was eleven,

I wished that I could kick the Coca-cola can all day long with friends,

but the Fifa series ended and studies came back on track.

When I was twelve,

I wished that no one had to sit for exams,

but I enjoyed the impact of it.

When I was thirteen,

I wished that I was twelve again,

just to say a word of goodbye.

When I was fourteen,

I wished to be united again like old school times,

but priorities differ somehow rather.

When I was fifteen,

I wished Mathematics would just banish from Mother Earth,

but I practices made things perfect for me.

When I was sixteen,

I wished life could always be sweet and exciting,

but I learned that with great power comes great responsibility.

When I was seventeen,

I wished not to feel the weight of strained knowledge,

but I was aware that I was not alone.

When I was eighteen,

I wished that I could take the unknown road,

but my amma told me,

At these stages of life , a wise person doesn't make any important decisions alone.

At every returnless junction, a life begins and the cycle of life repeats,

only at every junction I ought to know where it leads.

The wishes I made thought me lessons,

but the last wish that I made,

taught me what was life all about.
