How to make a breakfast burrito

Breakfast burritos are a great way to have a meal on the go. Whether you are headed for work or school, or anywhere in between, a breakfast burrito is easy to prepare and requires little clean up. And, if you thought that breakfast burritos are boring, check out the following how-to's which will help you create three different types of breakfast burritos.

Egg and bacon breakfast burrito

For this recipe, you will need: 3 bacon slices, 1 tortilla, 2 eggs, 2 T. chopped chives, 1 slice American cheese. These instructions and amount of ingredients will make one breakfast burrito.

First, you will need to bake the bacon slices. Baking the bacon slices reduces your clean up and will result in crispy, straight bacon that can be easily placed into the burrito. Place the bacon slices on a rack, and put the rack in a 450 degrees F oven. Usually, regular bacon (not thick cut) will need only 5-7 minutes to bake.

Next, scramble the 2 eggs. Add salt and pepper. Tear up the slice of American cheese and mix the cheese with the scrambled eggs. This will result in creamy, cheesy eggs. Once the eggs are thoroughly cooked, you can then place them onto the middle of the tortilla. Then, sprinkle the chopped chives on top. Add the slices of bacon so that their are parallel to the eggs.

Roll up the tortilla until you have formed a burrito.

Ham and cheese breakfast burrito

This recipe is similar to the previous one, except you will need to use cooked, cubed ham. You can purchase already cooked ham at your deli counter or even in the refrigerated meat section of your local grocery store. You can also use any type of leftover pork that you may have on hand, or you can cook new pork. You will also need 1 slice of American cheese, or mixed shredded cheese.

Place the pork in a frying pan and add salt and pepper to taste. Add the slice of cheese, shredded. Cook until the ham is fully warmed and the cheese is melted. Place onto the tortilla, and roll until you have a burrito.

Chicken salad breakfast burrito

For this recipe, you will need precooked chicken cubes (or any chicken product that you wish, preferably the breast meat), your choice of greens (spinach is delicious in this recipe), and your choice of salad dressing (or you may make your own). You can also use Dijon mustard in place of salad dressing.

Place the spinach onto the middle of the tortilla. Add the chicken, making sure it is parallel to the spinach. Add the Dijon mustard by spreading it onto the tortilla. You can also add a white cheese if you like. Now, roll until you have a burrito.
