Thanksgiving is a time when families and friends get together for fun, good food and giving thanks. Friends and family may have been separated for some time and thanksgiving is often a reunion of sorts. This makes thanksgiving the ideal time to engage family and friends in fun activities and games. Here are some fun party games you can try at your next thanksgiving
The Memory Food Game
If you know something about food and have a good memory, this is a great fun game to play. To play the game, all participants will sit in a circle. The first player will say, "This Thanksgiving, I ate turkey", the second person will say the same thing but add another food to it. For example, "this Thanksgiving, I ate Turkey and potatoes. The third and other persons will add another food. The object of the game is to remember all the foods mentioned by the previous player and in the correct order. If a player forgets a food, that player must drop out of the game. This continues until only one player is left in the game.
Bird, Beast or Fish
For this game you need to know your animals. You need to think quickly and also have a good memory. Players will sit facing the leader. The leader starts by pointing to a player and saying Bird, Beast or Fish. The player selected must respond with a name. Names cannot be repeated and the player has 10 seconds to respond. If a player fails to respond with a name within the time limit, she is eliminated from the game. The game continues until there is only one player left in the game.
Thanksgiving Name Game
Each player is given a Thanksgiving related name like, pumpkin, turkey, and cranberry and is seated in chairs in a circle. Players will nominate a leader who will not have a chair. The game starts when the leader calls out two names like "pumpkin and cranberry". The players with these names have to quickly switch places as any delay could result in both players being ejected from the game. As the leader continues to call pairs of names, he may suddenly call "Cornucopia" When the players hear this everyone including the leader has to find a new seat. The person without a seat at the end of the scramble becomes the new leader.
Twenty Questions
Players think about persons, places and things related to Thanksgiving. The first player will say "I am thinking about a person, place or thing" and the other players will try to guess what by asking twenty questions or less. Responses to questions must be limited to "no, yes or I don't know" The person who guesses correctly becomes the next player to say "I am thinking about-".
Thanksgiving is a great time for reconnecting with friends and family. Party games like the ones listed here can be a great ice breaker and a fun way for adults and children to create new bonds and stronger friendships.
