Despite what reason may lead us to believe, longer hair is not necessarily better during the winter months. Sure, it is colder outside, but one will get far greater protection from the cold from a hat than by simply growing one's hair. Winter is a time that demands elegance more so than any other season, and long hair is hardly elegant in a gentleman. Besides, in order to have long hair for winter it would mean growing it out since at least early autumn. Who wants that much preparation? Longer hair may seem "logical" at first, but in reality, the practicality of shorter hair far outweighs any benefit from long locks.
Consider waking up for work one frigid morning, and having to get in the shower. The last thing one wants to do in a cold morning is come out of the shower dripping icy cold water from one's hair. It would take ages to dry! Meanwhile your shirt would be wet and cold. Not an ideal combination. And if one is running late? The results could be disastrous. One could spill one's coffee or electrocute one's self trying to get the hairdryer started; dreadful things! Instead, towel-drying short hair seems far less painful. Indeed, shorter hair is more easily manageable and looks comparatively more sophisticated than long hair. What would work better with a fine coat, a long mane or a smart cut? If perhaps one wanted to look like a flasher or one of those salesmen that open their coats and produce a fake Rolex then perhaps one would select the longer mane.
Not only is it easier to groom shorter hair, but it is also more practical when selecting head wear. When one's hair is short and well kept, one will find that most any hat will look quite smart upon one's noggin. We've all seen the man who has exceedingly long hair trying to wear a fedora, for example. Something about the combination seems wrong. Long hair is for beach bums, fedoras are for refined gentlemen. Pray don't let yourself fall upon this category.
A shorter cut with an appropriate hat is far superior over long hair during the winter season. Make no mistake, lest you befall upon misfortune by the damp long hair that is on your back at six of the clock in the morning. So save yourself the trouble, make the hat companies some money, and look refined and elegant in the process, truly a win-win situation.
