What should you wear to a winter wedding?

A wedding is a special occasion regardless of the season. Even so, winter weddings can prove to be some of the most beautiful weddings in terms of scenery. They tend to be unique, bold, and memorable. If you are ever invited to attend a winter wedding, you might feel blessed or joyed. However, trouble seems to arise when deciding what to wear. This is due to the typically dark and chilly weather present during wintertime. Therefore, extra precaution should be taken to ensure that you stay warm, yet stylish. The good news is that choosing what to wear to a winter wedding is not as difficult as it may seem.

First of all, it is important to note the specific place where the wedding will be taking place most of the time. Weddings tend to be either held mostly indoors or outdoors. If it is to be held mostly indoors, then the concern over staying warm can be reduced. Indoor weddings will prove to be warmer. A good option would be to wear a knee-length or ankle-length dress. Having the dress be fitted would be an added bonus, as it would adhere tighter to your body, providing additional warmth than a flowy dress would. As for sleeves, you can wear a 3/4 sleeve dress or a dress with sleeves that cover only the shoulders if there will be heat within the interior location. Avoid wearing a strapless dress, as it would not be perceived appropriate for the winter time. Save strapless dresses for the spring or summer time.

If the wedding will be held mostly outdoors, then you need to be sure that warmth is your top priority. You do not want to be shaking with chills during the entire wedding. Long-sleeved dresses are available, and they can be found for formal gatherings. These dresses would be appropriate, as well as long, flowy dresses that cover up your lower body. If the wedding is not completely formal or black tie, then other clothing options can be implemented. Wearing a cardigan or light sweater over a strapless or spaghetti-strapped dress can prove to be warm yet fashionable. Wear one that would match the color scheme of your dress. Avoid wearing overly bright colors, as those are best used for warmer weather. Stick with darker, winter colors, such as blue, purple, dark green, and the like. This way, you will look appropriately dressed for the occasion.
