Winter tends to be associated with darker color tones, mostly due to the typically somber weather outside. Popular colors amongst the fashion world vary yearly, and sometimes even seasonally. This year in 2010, popular colors for both men and women revolve around the darker color spectrum. Such colors would include black, gray, and brown. In particular, gray is appeared to be the most popular color this season, with a vast majority of designers using gray in their fashion show garments. These designers range from Louis Vuitton to Gucci. Of course, one needs not dress in these expensive designer clothing to remain fashionable this winter. The simple colors speak for themselves.
One can never go wrong with black. Black is a great color in the sense that it can match virtually anything. This color usually gives off a sophisticated vibe, and there is an incredibly wide array of clothing that can be found in this color. Of course, this color being in for this season is also a plus. Anything in this color would be appropriate for winter attire, from scarves to coats. It is commonly said that black gives off the impression of a slimmer body for the wearer. This would be an added bonus for winter garments in this color, as coats and jackets tend to be thick, therefore adding unwanted girth.
Gray is also another color that can give off a fashionable vibe. It is lighter and more noticeable than black, but at the same time it is not overly showy. Playing it safe with gray will prove to be trendy, especially this season, as this color is in. Again, one can find a wide array of clothing that fits this color scheme. Brown is also a color that can prove to be trendy. Brown has an earthy, bold feel to it, perfect for winter weather. Plus, brown is a popular color amongst winter wear.
Nevertheless, brighter colors are not completely out this season. Red, blue, and even pink clothing designs were spotted on the fashion runways. Red especially would be a good color to wear around Christmas time, as it fits the whole ambient of Christmas. And if one happens to be feeling in a bright or upbeat mood, light shades of blue or pink can prove to be safe and stylish this winter. No need to sacrifice one's current mood at a certain time for fashion.
