Changing your name on Facebook is an easy thing to do once you learn where to go. You can also change all kinds of information from the same page, so if you have anything else you've been wanting to change having to do with your account information you can access it from the same menu.
Once you have signed into Facebook, you should be directed to your home page, if not simply click "Home" at the top left hand side of the blue bar which is located at the top of the page. From the home page you are going to be using that same blue bar to find the option you need to change your name. On the right hand side you will see your current name, Settings, and Log out. Click on Settings, then a page will pop up with tabs at the top that list Settings, Networks, Notifications, Mobile, Language, Payments. The page should automatically have you in the Settings tab, and as stated earlier if you have been wanting to change your account information, this is the place to do it.
When on the Settings web-page, you will see an option to change your Name, Username, E-mail, Password, Linked accounts, Security Questions, Privacy and also the option to Deactivate your account. Since you are going to be changing your name, follow the line from the word "Name" to the right where it says "Change" and click there. The option for how you want your name displayed (whether you want your first or last name in the front) is the first bar. Under that is where you can change your name. Just click on the bars to type in your name. There is an option for First, Middle (optional), and Last. Remember to not use LeTtErs LiKe ThIs, and to always use your real name. A full alternative name option is also there if you would like to use it, this can help people that know you by another name find you. For instance if you were recently married, or a majority of people know you by your maiden name. After filling out your name, you will then confirm it by clicking on the blue box that says "Change name". You will be lead to a page that will then ask you to confirm if this is a legitimate request. Make sure you are following the rules, and then click the box next to "I confirm this is a legitimate request". Keep in mind, this change might take up to 24 hours to complete, and if you aren't using your real name or following the other rules your request might not get accepted.
