However, the winter walks should not stop during bad and cold weather, since outdoor workout qualifies among the best remedies for depression and the regular colds.
Do not let the cold scare you away from your standard walks, yet do everything in your power to find the motivation and enjoy the long winter walks. According to the latest research, workout in the open air is a lot more preferable then the indoors exercise. Especially these days you should try not to visit the gym so frequently since the stuffy and dry air is not an ideal surrounding. Many claim that they often feel better after long walks in the open, it raises their spirits and it has the effect of restoring their lost good mood, and simply making them feel better.
However, many still have problems when getting up in the morning or getting out late in the evenings. No matter how much some might praise the benefits of winter walks, the talk itself will not make the task much more enjoyable. To make your task a lot more pleasant, here are some simple tips to assist you on your way to much more enjoyable walks.
First and foremost, make sure that the clothe you are wearing for your walk are suitable and comfortable. When we say suitable, we mostly mean layered. The best combination you could be wearing is consistent of three layers, to keep you perfectly protected against winter cold and to help keep your body warm and sweat free. Put your sneakers back in closet and get those boots out. You need good footwear to keep your feet dry, and warm, and if we are talking about some heavy boots, even better, the heavier the boots, the more energy is needed to lift your feet. Putting it nicely, you are using up a lot more calories, which off course is on the plus side enhancing the effects of your regular walks. Concerning the suit for your winter walks, let us start with the first layer. Next to your skin, you should be wearing synthetic fiber to help you sweat less and keep all the moisture away. The next layer should generate heat and help you stay warm. The best fabric for the occasion of your second layer must be the natural fiber like wool, like a long, fine and warm sweater. Finally, the third layer should be made of nylon, something that will keep you dry in rain and snow. On top of it all, do not forget to accessorize, you need a warm headgear, or some cute earmuffs.
If the fact that you are doing an extra good thing for your health and physical condition is simply not enough there is some additional motivation you can try with. Set yourself a certain goal before you are off to your winter walks. Forget to buy juice or fresh fruit on purpose and plan a morning walk to supermarket, once you have a goal, the cold will be a lot more bearable. Listen to music that seems to be one of the best motivators for many regular runners. Listen to some lively music, let the music set the rhythm of your walk, and simply enjoy.
When in the morning you feel like you would rather stay in your warm and comfortable bed, just keep in mind that you will have a better day if you simply go outside. Winter can be beautiful, especially if the streets are white with snow, the very scenery will help you feel better. With the proper footwear and winter clothes, you will feel less cold and a lot more sweat. Winter walk will help improve your daily mood, and all your negative energy will be used in good purpose, maintaining your health and keeping fit.
