You may live in a big city full of entertainment and excitement. Or, you may live in a rural town that offers very little in terms of bright lights and night parties. When you have out of town guests, you may have some trouble figuring out how to keep them entertained. Wherever your neighborhood, you can still keep your out of town guests entertained by following these tips.
Big cities
Often, living in a big city offers many possibilities for entertainment. For example, if you live in Chicago, you can find many restaurants and bars downtown that will keep you busy for a few hours. You can then cross the Park and head on over to the Field Museum, or to the Shedd Aquarium, or even to the world famous Navy Pier.
Wherever city you happen to be living in, there are online guides that will help you find attractions and places to visit. It is easy for you to find sources of entertainment because of the overwhelming population that resides in a city.
Before you take your guests out, make sure that you create a list of all the attractions you want to see. Sometimes, it is best to go to attractions that offer glimpses into different parts of the city. For example, you may go to a couple of restaurants that show off the cuisine of the city, and then you may go to a place that offers a glimpse into the culture of the city.
Small towns
If you live in a small town and you have out of town guests, you may be worried about the lack of entertainment that is available to you. However, if you look around, you should be able to find a few attractions and events throughout the year. You should take a look at your town's newsletter or webpage, or take a visit to your local library. Some small towns even have "welcome centers," which provide brochures and ideas for entertainment resources.
The best thing to do if you live in a small town is to try to convince your out of town guests to visit when there is something happening in town. For example, if your town celebrates harvest festivals in the fall, you might encourage your guests to visit then.
As you can see, it is easier to keep your out of town guests entertained if you live in a big city. However, even if you live in a small town, you can still find great ways to help your guests avoid boredom.
