Winter is an invigorating time of year. The cold can be a little intense at times, but, dressing properly, and, having a full stomach can add warmth to the body, and make the cold less oppressive. Walking is a wonderful exercise that can be fulfilling physically, and emotionally. Walking can clear the head, and work out thoughts in a conductive environment. It is a simple exercise that can be done by almost anyone. It does not cost anything, and, can be incorporated into one's lifestyle. A winter walk, as with any other walk throughout the year can be done alone, with a buddy, or in a group. It is a workable exercise for many people.
Many winter activities are done inside, but it is good to keep in mind that although inside activities can be valuable, a walk in the cold , done the right way will help people feel better, and allow the person to feel less cooped up, and free to explore the great outdoors. Walking outside in the cold makes the body feel alive. The season of winter offers a picturesque landscape that can stimulate the senses. After a snow fall, providing there is a safe passage way to walk without the fear of slipping, the winter walk can add a great deal to the senses. The feel of the cold air, the sounds of quiet, the smell of the crisp air, and the view of a snow blanketed street. There is usually a serene feel on a cold winter day. Not many people are outside, doing chores and socializing, which adds to the quietness of the journey.
If the temperature is not below zero, one can venture out into God's playground for an enjoyable walk, that can add an exercise regimen for the day. It is important to dress in layers, and keep exposed body parts covered to ensure safety, and prevent frostbite. The head should be covered so the body heat stays inside the body and allows the body warmth and comfort. The feet should be warm with possibly two pairs of socks, and appropriate walking shoes. If boots are workable to the walk they could be used to enhance the walking experience.Comfort is the key to a productive walk, and, in the wintertime, keeping warm helps the muscles, and joints move freely and properly. Keeping warm will cause less stiffness of the joints, and muscles. This preparation will ensure a more productive walking experience
Before attempting to venture outside on a cold winter day, taking care of the body from the inside out is important as well. Not being hungry, and feeling satisfied will make it easier to walk, or exercise in general. Walking will burn calories, and when it is cold outside our bodies are working extra hard to maintain the proper core body temperature. Having a full stomach will keep the body feeling warmer, and better equipped to walk on a cold day. Feeling hungry will slow down the movement of the body on a hike or even a shorter walk. It is important to have the body fully prepared, and fueled to take on a winter walk.
A winter walk can be a very enjoyable experience. Staying outside even for a little bit, can add to a better physical, and emotional satisfied self. Keeping warm, and comfortable will add to the overall positive experience. Exercising is always good for the body. Keeping fit, and healthy will enhance the overall happiness of an individual. Wintertime should be enjoyed outside as well as inside. Walking is an excellent form of exercise that can be done by almost anyone, with little planning at anytime. Getting accustomed to the cold, with the proper clothing will enhance the overall positive winter walk experience.
