Poetry: The tragedy of love

Ghost whispers...

Somewhere caught between dusk and dawn
in twilight's wake their echos sound
like distant cries, lost and forlorn
alone and too far gone to be found

An empty, long abandoned page
now crumpled and thrown in a drawer
still holds the imprints of an age
before the words appeared no more

The paper bleeds, sweet nothings call
time separates, life moves along
and all the while the curtains fall
to cue a final tragic song

In whispered screams their sorrow haunts
the furthest reaches of the night
then yielding to a new day's taunts
three ghostly words bow to the light...
