Roberta is a character in the manga series by Rei Hiroe called "Black Lagoon" who makes her appearance when trying to rescue a child named Garcia Lovelace. She makes quite the dramatic entrance which becomes memorable in the eyes of many of the residents of the Thai fictional city Roanapur. It would seem that the idea for Roberta was inspired by the "Terminator."

In the story, it is revealed that Roberta lives in Venezuela and works as a maid for the prominent Lovelace family. She makes her appearance tracking Garcia down who is the "package" for the main characters, Lagoon Company, to deliver from the Colombian drug cartels. As soon as Lagoon Company crosses paths with Roberta, nobody in Roanapur is safe from the onslaught.

While Roberta is a maid, she lacks the necessary domestic and cooking skills. While Roberta is a terrible maid, it is questionable on why she is still hired in the first place. It is eventually revealed that her father was friends with the head of the Lovelace family. Turns out that Roberta used to be a member of Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia a.k.a. FARC. She is a soldier that is trained to kill without question. During her time in FARC, Roberta has killed men, women, and children. Because of this, Roberta is nicknamed the "Bloodhound of Florencia." Roberta eventually learns that she was nothing but a pawn for the drug cartels.

She reforms and pledges to protect Garcia. Throughout the story, Roberta stays true to the role of protecting Garcia with her life. For Revy, one of the main characters, Roberta becomes the main archrival. The two of them are sadistic killers. The two of them end up clashing with one another.

The most notable feature of Roberta is that she dresses up as a maid. She dresses very conservatively for a maid. Despite that proper appearance and presentation lies a relentless fighting machine. She possesses a plethora of weapons in the maid's outfit such as shotguns, grenade launchers, machine guns, trench knives, and so forth. All these weapons are for the sake of keeping Garcia safe from harm. On top of that, Roberta is highly skilled in the martial arts.

Roberta has proven to be one of the strongest women in Black Lagoon. She is like the Terminator when pursuing those that have done Garcia harm. In Black Lagoon, she is perhaps one of the most impressionable characters. Like many of the characters in Black Lagoon, Roberta has her interesting quirks. One example would be Roberta concealing a combat shotgun and disguising it as an umbrella. While a psychotic killer, she is one of the most humane for the most part.

She is an example on how the characters in Black Lagoon remain impressive. Not many people could concoct the idea of a soldier dressed as a maid. The other interesting part of Roberta is that her physical abilities are superhuman. Fighting against her is literally going up against the Terminator. That alone scares most out of the people in Roanapur.
