I remember the times when the only I way I could send a written message was to write letters and post them at post office or drop them into a public mailbox. Today, I have the option of typing in the message on our computers and clicking on the send button. This is indeed the beauty of the email technology which is an important part of the Internet. In fact, emailing is the one of the most common activity done on the Internet. In general, the Internet has reduced the communication time drastically. This is of course, taking into assumption the person will reply the email immediately. Instead of having to post your letter, you can easily send an email while sitting comfortably at your computer. You can also send electronic greetings that contain animated images to your friends and relatives. For those who still prefer sending traditional cards, some websites provide the user the opportunity to download and print cards on the printer.
Another great advantage of the Internet is that it helps one to save time and perhaps even money. Instead of driving to the shops for your groceries, you can place your order via a secured website. Someone from the other end will take note of the order and within the same day a person will deliver it to your doorstep, Some orders may take a longer time to arrive but at least you do not have to drive to the shops and this can help you to save some money on petrol and help you to contribute something positive to the environment. Items you can get from the Internet include software, clothing, food, books and even computers.
If you have been a college student before the Internet was available to everyone, you may remember the times when you have to travel to the library to borrow books for your term papers. You have to be as early as possible or else someone will get to the books before you. The famous phrase "The early bird catches the worm" held true to you during that moment. Today, you can get the information from the Internet without having to wait for your turn. With your own Internet access, you do not have to go all the way to the library.
The Internet is great place for some wonderful surprises. You may suddenly find some additional interesting information about your favourite celebrity, your favourite song, a product, a service, and a cure for a certain disease. For example, you may find out how that a famous person is actually the father of your favourite celebrity, something you had not known before you had access to the
