So you want to be a real Scrooge this Christmas huh? Well luckily for you there are many ways to save money without having to go so far that you really do turn into a Scrooge. Just looking around the house you can find plenty of ways that you can save money on Christmas, and not really have to skimp on some of the things that you really want to do to celebrate the holiday season.
The best thing that you can do is to re-use items from the previous season. Whether you are going to use some old wrapping paper that you still have from last year, or if you are going to want to use some decorations from the previous season, it can be a good way to save money on the little things that people tend to want to stock up on every year. Just by saving left over material from the previous year, you can save money.
Shopping for gifts at discount stores are good ways to save money this year as well. If you have a little kid, you can easily just buy a couple of board games, and you can do that a place like Big Lots, or even some grocery stores will have general merchandise aisles where you can buy cheap gifts and other items for Christmas.
Combine gifts if you can get away with it. Instead of buying a gift for each of your kids, or each of your parents, you can save a little money and combine gifts. Get your parents a 50 dollar gift card as opposed to getting each of them a 50 dollar gift. Get your kids something that they can redeem later on, or something like a video game that they can share, and save some money that way.
Make something for something this year. Instead of buying a video game, you could make them a place where the kids can store the video games, or give your wife an entertainment center that you built. Making something yourself is a good way to save money on materials, and it comes more from the heart. Isn't that what the holidays are supposed to be about anyway?
There are many ways in which you can be a Scrooge and not really be a Scrooge. Saving money is something that a lot of people are going to want to do this holiday season. It can be done without sacrificing the spirit of the season, or the way in which you go about getting quality gifts for your family and friends.
