Winter snow storms often mean school is canceled and when that happens, unless you already have some sort of daycare arrangement, you may be forced to spend the day at home with the kids. The novelty of getting to stay home from school will only last so long before cabin fever, the need to be occupied, or the need for some attention set in and the child starts to act up. If you are armed with some great activity ideas that you can do at home with the kids, the day will be much more pleasant for everyone, and you will be able to maintain your sanity throughout the entire day.
Here are some things you might do with kids when you are stuck indoors because of yucky winter weather.

Kids enjoy doing art activities, and a great indoor activity can be coloring for younger children or drawing or painting for older children. Water based paints are ideal, or children can use colored pencils, colored washable markers or pastels. Keep a stock of art supplies on hand so that children can explore their imaginations when the weather is bad.
*Do a craft project -
There are all sorts of craft projects that are appropriate for kids of varying ages. You can do something like paint a wooden name plaque for each child's bedroom door, decorate picture frames for the child's bedroom, or start a scrap book for the child to keep their special mementos and precious memories in.
*Play board games -
Board games are a great way to entertain kids. You can play anything from Clue or Monopoly to Scrabble or Chinese checkers. Take turns playing different games so that no one burns out from playing one game too much.
*Play card games -
Kids enjoy playing card games. Play a variety of card games like Uno, Go Fish, War or any other child friendly card game. The kids will have a ball, and
