iPhone app reviews: PapiPole

PapiPole is like a sequel to PapiJump. Basically, the player controls a lollipop that is supposed to eat a hamburger. At the same time, the player has to try to avoid the spiked balls that are floating around the screen. Even though I liked PapiJump very much, PapiPole has a few downfalls. At any rate, it is still a good game and it is free.

Sometimes I love playing simple games that require very little effort. Of course, I like the occasional challenge, but when I want to relax or if I only have a few minutes to spare, I want to play a game that I can easily finish in a few minutes. So, I decided to download PapiPole after I found out that the developers of PapiJump had another game app. I knew that PapiPole was free, so I was immediately interested. I was, however, a little hesitant to download it at first. I know how many free apps are in the iTunes store that do not deliver; they have poor graphics as well as awful gameplay.

Thankfully, I can say that PapiPole deserves a spot on my phone. Not only does it keep me interested and entertained for at least ten minutes or so, but I can play it whenever, wherever without having to worry that I do not have enough time to finish a game.

The graphics are not that great. I did not expect that this game would have great graphics, since I was already familiar with the developers' other game, PapiJump. On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the best, I would say that both PapiPole and PapiJump are 4's at best. I give them at least 4 points because, even though the graphics are simplistic, they do not hurt the eyes and they are appealing to younger players, too.

However, the gameplay is interesting and unique, to say the least. It is sometimes difficult to maneuver the lollipop so that he does not fall over, but that is the challenge in the game. After a while, once your fingers get used to the controls, the game becomes a little easier and the fun begins.

All in all, I recommend PapiPole to anyone who needs an app that will be useful every once in a while in wasting time. This app is free and it will surely be worth the little time that you spend downloading it.
