If you are interested in working online, you first must understand where to look for online jobs. While you might at first think that your search engine can help you find an online job, chances are that you will fun into a number of scams. Knowing where to find online jobs includes utilizing several resources. Here are some of them:
LinkedIn - This social networking site offers various job postings from companies who are searching for contractors to work from home. When you log in, search for jobs based on the keywords that relate to your industry;
Craigslist - While you may encounter a number of scams on Craigslist, if you are careful, you can find online jobs through their database. Simply select the "work at home" jobs database. Make sure you evaluate each posting carefully and watch for red flags;
oDesk - If you are interested in working for a job site that specializes in remote work with no fees until you are hired, you will want to review oDesk. There are thousands of jobs posted every month in fields ranging from data entry to IT jobs. Before you set up a profile on oDesk be sure that you read and understand the Terms of Service;
Elance - Elance is also a remote workplace similar in nature to oDesk. You will have a limited number of credits that can be used to post to jobs that are posted online. Elance offers several levels of membership with increasing availability in the number of connects you are offered;
Bright Hub - If you are capable of writing high quality articles following strict editorial guidelines, you can sign up as an author on Bright Hub. The current pay scale (as of 08/09/2010) is $10.00 per article up front (in editorially managed channels) for 450 words. You can also earn residual income;
Search Engines - If you are willing to do the required amount of due diligence, you can also use search engines to help you find online jobs. You should search based on a specific job category to help narrow down your search. Always check with the Better Business Bureau to make sure that you are dealing with a legitimate company.
Summary
The internet has opened up an entirely new market for those who are interested in working at home. These are a few places where you can find online jobs. There are several other legitimate sites available, but remember to always do your research before accepting any online job.
