Timeless Christmas tree decoration themes

Many people choose to decorate their Christmas tree in a specific theme. Some themes have been used for many years. These timeless Christmas tree themes are among the most beautiful ways of decorating a tree.

Decorating a tree using items found in nature or handmade items has long been a popular theme. Strands of berries, popcorn and dried apples are part of the decorations on this tree. Pinecones, paper snowflakes, and ornaments made from fruits and nuts are also popular items to help make this type of tree simplistically beautiful. Ornaments made by children and grandchildren are very appropriate for this decorating theme.

Decorating a Christmas tree with an angel theme has also been popular for a long time. Some themes may be designed around a particular type of angel such as glass angels, cloth angels, or ceramic angles. Another version of an angel tree theme is simply a collection of all types of angels made from numerous types of material in a style that reflects both traditional and modern design.

Snowflakes are a popular Christmas tree theme. The intricate design of snowflake ornaments allow the lights on the tree to shine through creating a visually appealing affect. Just as with angels, the material the snowflakes are made of varies. Whether the snowflakes are made of fragile hand blown glass, intricately crocheted, or cut from paper, they give the tree a feeling of serenity.

Vintage toys hanging on a Christmas tree creates a nostalgic feeling in the room. A tree with small dolls, teddy bears, or gingerbread men stirs childhood memories in almost anyone. Other nostalgic themes include a tree decorated with old fashion candy or replicas of old fashion candy. Candy canes and garlands made of multi colored candies make this a festive tree theme.

One of the more popular Christmas tree themes seems to involve hanging vintage ornaments on the tree. Flea markets, estate sales, and auctions are the most likely places to locate vintage ornaments. The goal with this theme is not to decorate a tree in any one concept but to include all types of vintage ornaments. Angels, snowmen, teddy bears, nutcrackers, and more all have a place on a vintage theme tree.

Santa is timeless. A tree adorned with old world Santas or the more modern versions of Santa is a delightful addition to your holiday decorations.

A timeless Christmas tree theme is color oriented. Selecting ornaments, lights, garland, and even tinsel of the same color create an interesting effect. Traditional colors such as red, gold, blue, and silver have been popular choices for years. More recently, newer color themes have appeared that also create a beautiful Christmas tree.
