Soldiers Give Us Freedom
When we feel the senses of home -
sizzling steak, barbeque,
Mom's perfect pies,
we do so
knowing the sacrifices all soldiers
give us for our freedom to be,
and live free.
When we see you on TV,
amidst the sandstorms,
children near you're hand,
we love you for the courage you expend:
the hope set apart by your race,
by your need [as is ours,]
too keep your country free from tyranny.
And so we admire you at home
more than yellow ribbons around oak trees
You do the things we cannot.
The best we can do is thank you for
living in our hearts by everything you do;
for your courage
loyalty, and depth of heart,
our entire country says thank you -
it's the best we have in us.
