Video game reviews: Mario Kart (Wii)

Mario Kart for the Wii has to be one of the best Wii games I have played yet and is a great game to play with family and friends (up to 4 people on the Wii console) and if you have an active internet connection to your Wii console you can play people all over the world with a maximum of 12 people on one race.

One of the advantages of this game is anyone at any level of game playing can play this. It also has motorbikes unlike the earlier Mario kart games but the game is still as good as expected the earlier versions when they where released.

The game also comes with a free steering wheel, some don't like it but I think it is very good and adds a bit more enjoyment, it isn't over-sensitive and is quite easy to use.

The solo part of the game has three modes 50cc (easy), 100cc (medium) and 150cc (hard) there are 8 cups to win on each mode and 1 cup is made up of 4 races 1st place gets you gold, 2nd place gives you silver and finally if you get 3rd you get bronze and nothing if you are lower. You can unlock stuff (characters, bikes, karts etc) by getting the cups.

As well as this there is a battle mode, this is a lot different from the racing part of the game. The first battle game - everyone has three balloons and you have to use weapons to get rid of their balloons while protecting your balloons. The second battle game - Everyone is spilt into 2 teams and the goal is to get as many coins as possible within 3 minutes, if you get hit by a weapon you will lose 3 of your coins and they will fall on the floor for your opponents to pick up.

The controls of it are simple, hold down the button 2 to accelerate, button B to brake/reverse, button A to look behind you and the 1 button to drift (these are for the Wii Wheel).

Overall this is a great game and the only criticism I can say about this it is that some of the power-ups/weapons are a bit unbalanced but that really isn't a problem if anything it makes it a bit more of a challenge to play, it depends on the way you look at it a suppose.
