Runescape mining guide: How to make more money & other great tips

Mining is one of the 3 money making skills, mining being the lesser of the three. Mining is very simple - you use a pickaxe on an ore rock to mine it then you get the ore.

At level 1, the only ores you can mine are copper, tin ore, clay and rune essence. I suggest that you mine 14 copper ore then 14 tin ore if you want to level up your smithing as well. They both give 17.5 experience when mined and both are worth about 77gp each.

When you reach level 15 you should start to mine iron then bank it so you can sell on the G.E. for about 140gp each or you could smith it to get your smithing level up. Iron ore gives out 35 experience.

When you get to level 35 you should start to mine coal (you need level 30 to mine it) its worth a bit more at 225gp and gives out 50 experience but it is slower to mine then iron. Coal can be used with iron to make a steel bar (2 coal + 1 iron ore = steel bar).

At level 55 you can start to mine mithril ore, but I suggest you get up to level 60 before you start to mine mithril, it is worth about 350gp each and gives out 80 experience per ore.

At level 60 you can start to mine in the mining guild (its in falador and it has a lot of coal rocks -about 33 I think- and 5 mithril rocks) and you can start to mine mithril ore (you need 55 mining to mine it). What I do personally is equip a fire staff and get about 500 nature runes plus my pickaxe (in my inventory) and mine 1 mithril and 4 coal then cast superheat spell (1 nature rune and 4 fire runes) to get a mithril bar, then when I am finished doing my mining I go to the G.E. and sell my bars for around 1300gp each.

When you get to mining level 75 you can start to mine for adamantite ore this is a good way to get money just by mining this as they are worth about 1700gp each and give out 95 experience.

When you get 90 mining you can start mining runite ore (you need 85 mining but it is very slow at this level) which is worth a whopping 15,000gp each and gives out 125 experience. One inventory gives you 420,000gp (15,000 x 28 = 420,000), now tell me that's not a lot for just one inventory.

Tips:

1) Use the best pickaxe you can to make it better.

2) Listen to music to try and make it a bit less boring.

3) If you can take off all your armour to make it quicker to run.

4) Try and work at it, it won't give you good money at the start, but by level 90 the millions will be rolling in.
