Why you should confess your sins

Jesus died on the cross to cleanse everyone else from their sins. For sin to be erased, there must be the shedding of blood. God sent down his only begotten son to die for everyone else's shortcomings and transgressions and take them as his own. Because Jesus is and was the only being on this Earth who was without any sin whatsoever, he was the only living being on Earth who's blood would be suitable to be shed for such a cause. If we were to not admit or confess our sins, it would be the equivalent of claiming that we are without sin, and if we were indeed without sin, would there have been any point of God sending his only son to die for our sin?

We are all sinners and therefore, we must confess them with our mouths, so that they are forgiven.

Us confessing our sin is also a sign of respect for God. He sees that we are able to overcome our egos and our desire to believe that we are perfect and to just admit the truth to him.

In the chapter 1st John 1:7, the word states,"But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.", which simply means strive to be like him, for he is the light, or the correct way, then, we come closer together, and the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin, which ties back to the shedding of his blood. In the next verse, the word continues,"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.", which means that if we say that we have no sin, we are lying to ourselves, " but if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." If we admit we are sinners, he will forgive us of our sin, and in closing, the bible states that "If we say that we haven't sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.", which means that if we claim that we have no sin, we are also lying to God himself, for he has not put the word of lies into us.
