Woman and men that get urinary tract infections on a regular basis know the feeling of seeing the bathroom door numerous times in one hour. Urinary tract infections can cause frustration and distress in one's life due to chronic pain. That is why it is very important to know home remedies and tips on preventing urinary tract infections.

I have personally been suffering from urinary tract infections my entire life. I have been to the doctors so many times for this health issue that they will not prescribe me UTI medication anymore. Because of this reason I have to self medicate myself with natural remedies. Surprisingly the natural remedies worked, and will continue to work if followed on a daily basis.

Tip 1: Drink a lot of water. At least 64 Ounces a day. Not only will you stay very hydrated, but it will flush out the bacteria that causes UTIs.

Tip 2: Drink all natural organic cranberry juice. All natural organic juice will have a stronger fight on the infection. Juice from concentrate tend to have a lot of sugar, high fructose corn syrup, and is diluted by water. A very good cranberry juice to purchase is made by "Lakewood." I will say it is very expensive, $13.99 for a 32 FL OZ bottle. It is well worth the money though because your drinking it for medicinal purposes. This technique alone will have you feeling yourself again in a very short time.

Tip 3: If you are not a big fan of cranberry juice try AZO Cranberry tablets. If your infection is really bad drink cranberry juice with the tablets.

Tip 4: Homeopathic remedies work great. Try cantharis for sharp burning pains and intensive urges to urinate. Use Staphysagria for continual burning from sexual intercourse.

Tip 5: Adding key herbs to your diet will fight urinary tract infections. Goldenseal, marshmallow root, corn silk, buchu, and horsetail are all herbs that will ease an infection.

Tip 6: Using baking soda to treat an UTI isn't a bad route to go. This can be very helpful if the infection is caught right away. Mix 1/2 tsp. baking soda in a eight once glass of water. Drink the mixture and it will raise the balance of the acidic urine.

Tip 7: Make an aromatherapy oil with sandlewood, bergamot, juniper, frankincense, and tea tree. After oil is made rub all over the infected urinary area. Massage oil over area daily until symptoms disappear.

Tip 8: Avoid spicy foods, alcohol, carbonated drinks, cheese, dairy products, chocolate, and artificial sweeteners.

Tip 9: Eat and drink fresh berries daily. Blueberries help UTIs just as well as cranberries.

Tip 10: Wear cotton underwear and comfortable loose fitting pants.

Tip 11: Do not hold your bladder. When one waits to long to urinate it stretches the bladder causing the bladder to weaken. Urine remains locked up in your bladder and will increase the chance of an urinary tract infection.
