If you want to appear like a movie director or producer, you will love this app. Unfortunately for me, who has no interest in making movies whatsoever, I did not like this app enough to think that spending 99 cents on it would be worth it. Luckily, I was able to locate someone who already has the app and I was able to use it to my advantage so that I can review it.
It is always good to comment on the overall app itself. The app does not look bad at all. In fact, it does look like a clapper. I will have to give credit where credit is due, and apparently, the developers took the time to make sure that the clapper looked like a real clapper. Fortunately, the graphics do not look cheap and tacky. In addition, the sound of the clapper actually sounds like a real clapper. If I wanted to make a movie on a low budget, this app would certainly help.
Additionally, the app allows the user to "write in" the details of the movie or scene. You can basically write the details in using a piece of chalk. Although the chalk's width may be a little too thick to make the details look convincingly real, they will have to do for the moment. The developers, I hope, will be able to easily fix this rather small detail.
My friend and I agreed that the app has a few downfalls. First of all, even though there is a zoom feature, we both do not think that it helps visually. After all, even if we try to write in the details as neatly as possible, we are still stuck with the problem of looking at words that are written with overly thick chalk. In addition, the zoom feature does not really allow us to write the details in any better than we already do. We both think, however, that simply just allowing the user to type in the details would resolve all of these problems and would easily make the clapper look surprisingly real.
Overall, I think that Pocket Clapper has a lot of potential. I know that there are some amateurs who would love to make little personal movies, and an app might make that process a bit easier. However, as it stands, I would not recommend Pocket Clapper. At its current state, I think that this app should be free.
