Takumi Ichinose is one of the major characters in the manga series by Ai Yazawa known as "Nana." However, Takumi does not make an appearance until later down the story in which parts of Nana Osaki's past are revealed. In the story, Takumi is the bassist and leader of the popular Japanese rock band called "Trapnest." He is perhaps one of the most complex characters in the series. As in moral alignment, Takumi could be classified as "lawful evil."
In the story, Takumi shares a past with major characters Ren, Nobu, Yasu, and Reira. Also, Takumi is pretty much the opponent for Nana. While Nana could be considered the underdog heroine of the story, Takumi could pretty much be considered the manipulate villain. For most of the story, it shows that Takumi is very manipulative whether it is for his own personal gain or for the sake of Trapnest. Then again, Takumi tends to use Trapnest for his own bidding.
So far, Takumi ends up playing the villain due to a bad past via an alcoholic father. Despite having the traits of a villain, Takumi does have a sense of honor to him. While being the leader of Trapnest, he is manipulative and controlling. So far, Takumi's part does not play much significance until later in the story via the paparazzi stalking Ren and Nana. At the same time, Takumi is part of a love triangle with the other main character Nana Komatsu a.k.a. Hachi and Nobu.
While Takumi knows Hachi is infatuated with him as a major fangirl, he is infatuated with her. As a result, Takumi is willing to do whatever it takes to keep Hachi for himself. He is willing to trample over other people that get in his way. Seeing people such as Nana and Nobu as threats, Takumi finds ways to separate her from them. Eventually, Takumi gets Hachi pregnant as she was seemingly about to leave him for Nobu. Because of the pregnancy, Hachi remains with Takumi for financial reasons.
Takumi also played a vital role in ending the relationship between Shin and Reira. He pointed out to Reira that what she was doing was statutory rape. He also confronted Shin and explained the ramifications of the relationship possibly coming out to the media. While Takumi had Trapnest and Reira's best interests in mind, it would seem that Takumi was possessive of Reira and wanted to get Shin out of the way.
Eventually, Takumi and Hachi get married. However, the marriage is not a fairytale one. While Hachi plays housewife and mother, Takumi is going around and cheating on her with other women. While Takumi is pretty much the tragic villain in the story, he is the most complex. Nobody really knows what Takumi's motives are in the first place. One can think that Takumi is doing things for the sake of Trapnest which turns out to be part of his own self-gain and vice-versa.
He is also the most stubborn and rigid character in the series. While Takumi proclaims that the music that Trapnest makes should only matter, he gets a rude awakening that the personal lives of he and the other members are in constant scrutiny. Currently, it is unknown what the future is in store for Takumi. Currently, he has sent Hachi to stay in the dorm complex that houses the members of Blast. At the same time, a car accident has claimed the life of Ren. It is unknown what will happen to Takumi in the future as the series is currently on hiatus.
