I find it so humorous how there are so many parents that love to blame the television for their children's bad behavior issues, when really.. if you would of taken that extra step to be a parent in the first place, and not let your children watch shows that are inappropriate for their age group maybe your child wouldn't be having these issues. If you don't want your child exposed to these kinds of things, then just turn the TV off.
There are so many television shows out there, from shows about drug wars and thug wars to shows about pretty ponies trying to find the magical river of Pony Land. There are so many television shows out there, that there is hardly nothing that isn't on TV anymore. Just like the Internet, you can almost find anything on the television when you have digital cable.
Televisions were put here for our entertainment. To come home when we had a hard day at work and to just be able to relax while watching your favorite television stars cause the drama for the week. Of course there are shows that are not appropriate for children, just like there is vocabulary we should not use around our children, websites we shouldn't look at around our children, and stores that are inappropriate for our kids.. but that is why we do not expose our children to these things.
As a parent you are responsible for filtering what your kids learn about. You are not going to sit down with your five-year-old girl and explain what rape is, or school shootings are.. so why would you let them watch a television network that is going to go over these things in full detail?
Just as the world is today, there are plenty of things that we are not going to let our kids get into. When being a responsible parent you are going to lock these channels that could possibly taint your child. It is not the Televisions fault that parents are not paying enough attention to what their kids are doing. The person who is solely responsible for a child's behavior, is their parents. Parents are supposed to be making sure their kids are in a safe appropriate environment, and a parent who tries to blame a television for their child's bad behavior should have been paying a little more attention to what their child was watching in the first place.
