TV character analysis: Stanley Hudson, from The Office

Created on: November 11, 2009

With a laid-back and somewhat sarcastic personality, Stanley Hudson is a unique character in the hit NBC comedy television show The Office. His diverse personality and entertaining sense of humor is a breath of fresh air in an off the wall comedy genre. If you are unfamiliar with the television show The Office, it takes place in Scranton, Pennsylvania, in a small paper company called Dunder Mifflin Paper Co. They compete with large companies such as Staples and Office Depot. The Regional Manager of the Scranton branch, Michael Scott, always seems to put fun ahead of work, no matter the consequences. He will stop at nothing to be constantly entertaining either himself or anyone else in Dunder Mifflin. This makes life in The Office very entertaining and comedic.

"I took an extra shot of insulin in preparation for this cake today. If I don't have some cake soon, I might die." - Stanley Hudson, The Office.

One of the prime reasons that The Office is such a large hit is because of all the unique and diverse characters. Stanley Hudson is no exception. Although he has a very bored-appearing personality, he comes up with some hilarious quotes, and adds a spark to the series, even though he appears quite dreary. Another reason that The Office is such a hit is because there are many types of comedy throughout. Whatever type of comedy you enjoy, you will most likely find it in The Office. Stanley has a sarcastic personality, which is yet another diverse sense of humor in Dunder Mifflin.

"I wasn't really planning on leaving. All I wanted was a raise. How on Earth did Michael call my bluff? Is he some sort of secret genius? Sometimes I say crazy things." - Stanley Hudson, The Office.

In all, Stanley Hudson is a unique character in The Office with a completely diverse sense of humor. Although he isn't one of the featured characters in the series, he makes it into most of the episodes. Sometimes it's the minor characters that come out with some of the most hilarious lines. Stanley is a good example. Even though he appears very boring and monotonous, he has a unique personality. If he wouldn't have been in the series, it would be void of the certain spark that he brings. Overall, Stanley Hudson is an interesting character in The Office, despite how un-interesting he appears.
