Our appearance has a huge impact on how we feel about ourselves, as well as the perception that other people have of us. Most people, whether male or female, have some body part on them that they don't really like. It doesn't necessarily mean that they feel unattractive as a whole person, but that they just have that one thing they wish they could change. Unfortunately, for many people, that one part is the one that they seem to see more than all the other parts that they are fully satisfied with. They probably notice other people's as well. For instance, if someone hates their nose, they are automatically drawn to noticing the noses of other people, both those noses that they love and those that they don't like so much. It can even become an obsession for them.
Welcome to the world of cosmetic surgery and see the doors to change swing wide open. For me, it was my breasts. I am an attractive woman, in good shape, but that getting into great physical shape led to a loss in the breast tissue, since it is essentially just fat. When I began training at the gym, the breasts were the first things to go. They didn't just decrease in size, though, they were left with those awful pockets of unfilled skin that just hung there. Yuck! I did indeed become rather obsessed with other womens' breasts, seeing all of them as better than mine and wishing we could just make a trade. That wasn't going to happen, though, so I had two choices: learn to live with what I had, or take action to get what I wanted.
Well, it was only yesterday that I fulfilled the action of getting what I wanted at the hands of a wonderful plastic surgeon. Today, my less than an "A" cup breasts are suddenly a full "D" cup and I assure you that it has made a huge difference for me. There is an indescribable amount of pain that has come with this change, but I would do it again in a heartbeat, knowing that the pain won't last forever. They also don't look quite right, since the implants haven't dropped in properly yet, but they will and even if they always looked like they do today, it would still be better than what they looked like yesterday.
My self-confidence is not entirely based on looks, but there is certainly a large portion of it that is. We live in a society that makes it that way, from televison, to magazines, to people's judgments, we are inundated daily with the beauty we feel we should attain. If there is nothing wrong with it and it is affordable, why not do it and get rid of that one thing that you dislike? My self-esteem this morning when I woke up was higher than it ever has been before. It may sound strange to some, but it's incredibly true. The way that my husband looked at me was different than usual and at our age, that is amazing in and of itself. I feel so beautiful and sensual, more like a woman than ever before in my life.
My own confidence has soared, not just because of the look of the implants, but also because of the way that my clothes fit (as in, they finally do!) and the way that it feels to have the curves that are more proportionate to the rest of me. I feel like a more balanced person all around and that is a good thing. With the pain, the cost, the need to skip the gym for a while, and the judgments of others, I wouldn't change a thing. The feeling of confidence and self-esteem that I've gained is worth so much to me. This may not be for everyone, but it is for some, and to those that it is....GO FOR IT!
