Poetry: In memory of a loved one

What would I do
If I could see you one more time
See you all in white
See your halo shine

Would I run and throw
My arms around your neck
Or just cry and tell you
How my life's been a wreck

Would we talk for hours
Or sit in silence
Would you tell me that
It's been a while since

Would we put our names
In the white sand
Watch them be washed away
And leave hand in hand

I know you said you wouldn't
But you left me in a hurry
But I wont complain
No I'll never worry

I won't bother you
No I don't mind
Of keeping it to myself
Holding the pain inside

If it means you won't know
If it means you are free
From all the sadness
From the hurt we all see

I don't want to know your sufferings
I don't want to behold your sight
Because then I'll realize I'm alone
And I'll cry that very night

So until I'm beside you
I'll remember all the good things
Knowing your safe as ever
By God with your wings
