Alienware computers are considered by most as gods in the video-gaming world. Their sleek, unique design, and state of the art technology have earned them a reputation like no other. They are usually one of the first to receive new gaming technology, such as better processors and graphics cards for gaming. In the very basic setup, they usually have at least 3 GB of RAM, 2.6 dual Core processor, at least 512 MB graphics card, 500GB Hard Drive, and some other very good hardware. All this nice technology, of course, comes at a hefty price.
Alienware laptops and PC's start out at around one grand, and can be customized to reach upwards of $10,000. While they advertise their computers to be supercomputers that can over power any "standard" computer, in reality they are pretty much the same as any other over-customized computer. The only thing unique about them is their case designs, and a lot of people agree that the only reason they sell is because of the cool, sleek design that Alienware implemented onto their computers.
Alienware has just made themselves a name, nothing special inside. It's like getting a Mercedes, we got one about a year ago, and soon found out that the car is (like alienware) only a name. A good name indeed, but just a name nonetheless. Nothing underneath the roof of the car is special and can't be found somewhere else. Though, I must say Alienware have outdone themselves in the territory of durability, as their laptops and desktops are extremely resistant to falls, hits, or spills.
What a lot of people don't know, is that Alienware, in fact, is owned by Dell. And since, as I said before, Alienware is just a name, you can get practically the same computer at Dell as you get at Alienware for $200 - $400 less.
But don't take my words the wrong way, Alienware provides very good computers, and they ARE optimized for gaming, it's just that you can buy a computer with the same specifications for a lot less somewhere else. If you have $1500 to spend on a new computer, and you play video games on it often, or do some sort of media editing (which requires a lot of power), I suggest getting an Alienware, hands down, no questions asked. It's just that if you use a computer more for things such as the internet, word processing, and maybe watching movies sometimes, spending that much money on a computer is a waste. Go get a netbook instead, or a cheap notebook, which you can get for $400.
So Alienware computers are probably the best out there in terms of gaming, and are powerhouses that won't fail at impressing even the most stubborn of people.
