The society we live in has become so desensitized to lust. Lust is everywhere we turn. It is in movies, television shows and music. It is also in advertisement. For example, I do not understand what a half naked woman has to do with buying nice tires. If a man buys a tire is the nice looking woman going to appear?
The audience that is being entertained by lust is getting younger and younger. Lust does not just involve sexual desires. It is to have a desire for something so much that you put that object, person or experience before anything or anyone else. However the most popular type of lust is sex but the focus is starting to change toward object.
The object that I am talking about is money. Everyone is trying so hard to save or get money; people are black mailing, making up missing children and robbing others. Lustful desires can make people lose their minds because they are so focused on what they want. Eventually the person says forget about it, I am tired of waiting for what I want so I am going to go rob a bank or cheat on my spouse.
The end result of a lustful desire is sin which is why it is a sin to have the lustful desire in the first place. In the Bible in Matthew 5:28 Jesus says,"But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart."
God's number one command through out the Bible is to love Him first then love everyone as we love ourselves. When a person has love God will add what we need and desire. It is not the other way around. When we try to get the desires ourselves it usually ends up hurting us or the people around us. After the lustful desire is fulfilled and the people around you are hurt, then what? Guess what the lust for something else will surface because lust is never satisfied. It is the reason why people can overeat and stomach is hurting but still they lust after food. It is the reason why shopaholics and alcoholics exist. Also the sexaholics and drug addicts. All of those addictions started from the sin of lust. Those people desired something so much they don't care who they hurt.
People can be delivered from the sin of lust by acknowledging that they have been in lust and confessing their sins to Jesus. Then they can ask for forgiveness for having lust in their hearts. After that they can ask that Jesus remove the lust and enter into their hearts His love.
Love that is patient, kind, and does no wrong. Then the person will need to find a pastor that teaches the truth. The truth is what is in the Bible. Therefore before looking for a pastor, begin to read God's word to find out who you are now that the lustful desire has been removed from your heart.
