Your Leftovers
Another holiday has come and gone.
All the family has packed there bags
And left for the long trip home.
Now I'm stuck with all the leftovers.
Turkey, dressing, gravy, and pie,
(Broken hearts, bad memories, and lies)
Mashed potatoes, candied yams, and rolls,
(Your absence, my shattered dreams, and the cold)
When the holidays are all over
And all the dishes are cleared away and done
I'm left with nothing but leftovers
Of the dream we once shared that is gone.

thirty pounds of meat at least!
I hauled it to

The mushroom garden in my fridge,
Brought on by non-compliance,
Contains a multitude

I had the menu all planned out,
I knew what I was making.
The turkey, stuffed and in the pan,
The pumpkin pies were baking.
