Suggesting a new title on Helium is another useful activity that a Helium member can do other than their usual writing and rating job. This activity should make Helium richer and deeper in term of web contents. For the writer, they can take this opportunity to grab empty title bonus.
First of all you must think and come up with any suitable titles that are still not already available at Helium. In suggesting new title, it is advisable that you should avoid puns or any cute wording. Straightforward title usually works best. If your title suggestion is accepted by Helium, they will inform you via an email notification.
Now, how to suggest a new title on Helium?
Here is the step by step guide that should be useful for you. They are easy to be understood and implemented instantly.
1. Log in to Helium.
2. Click "My Helium" section.
3. A sub section called "Suggest Title" will appear at the left side of your site browser. Click it.
4. That should bring you to a page where there are three columns that you need to fill up with two of those columns are mandatory section to be filled. They are marked as"*mandatory" in red mark.
5. The first mandatory column is "Write a new title". Now you are at the right place, so far. This is where you write your new title suggestion. Write any title that you have been thinking before to be suggested here.
6. The second mandatory column is "Enter keyword". Enter any key words that you think are related with your title. For example if your suggested title is "George W Bush bio data", the key words are "George Bush". Your keywords will help readers find your article. You should be brief, and try to separate keywords and keyword phrases by commas. (Example: George Bush, George W Bush, George Bush Junior)
7. The last column (not mandatory to be filled) is "Enter search phrase". How do you think someone would enter a search in Google to find your piece? Examples such as "How to make a kite" OR "Understanding unit trust" clearly show what your article may be about. You can put any phrase that you think is suitable with your suggested title. Enter one phrase only, or if the title is clear as is, you can use that here. In this case, your phrase should be "George W Bush bio data".
8. Click "Next" button, and you will be lead to a check for duplicates. If you see that your new title is really unique and not written up yet, you can now proceed to "submit" button. If not, click "Cancel" button. Assume that your suggestion is unique, click "Submit" and you are done for now. Helium will give you a "thank you" message with a statement that says
"The following title has been submitted to Helium and is now in a pending status. You should receive an email soon, letting you know whether it was accepted or not. If it is accepted, you will receive a link directing you where you can write to your new title. If it is not accepted, you will receive instructions about how to improve the title or a similar title to write to". So that is all you need to do.
Wait for Helium e-mail to tell you whether your suggestion is accepted or not. In the mean time, you can start to write that suggested article and save it as a word document. When Helium e-mail you and tell you that your title suggestion is accepted, all you have to do is upload your finished article and you are on the way to claim 1 dollar empty title bonus as the first writer to write on that title.
If Helium reject you title suggestion (which is rare if you have done your home work properly), you can post that article on your personal blog or web site.
