The celebration of Chinese New Year

China is a large country with more than twenties provinces. Different places in China may have different celebration ceremonies in some extent. But the tradition for all the Chinese people has a lot in common.

Instead of a nuclear family, Chinese people tend to form a firm relationship with an extend family. So when the Spring Festival come, people will go to visit their relatives, always bring along foods and presents, red envelopes with money for the children as well. The adults are happy, because they see their relatives again; the children are happy, because they can have the red envelopes; the whole country is happy, because she just have ended an abundant year and look forward to a brand new one.

Chinese people like the red color, they think the red color can frighten away the "Nian" creature and bring them safety and luck. So they put up the red couplet paper, red lanterns, red Chinese Lucky Knots; the firecracker and envelopes are all red as well. At the Chinese New year's Eve, every family would get together; they eat, watch CCTV, and pray for another abundant year.
