Reflections: The Bible

The Bible codes, I am still up in the air about. I think the Holy Spirit is the One who interprets the word of God and does that to dedicated people who seek him and don't have a "ministry" agenda (i.e. "for a love-gift of $50.78 cents, I will send you my book that reveals the 'secrets' that God told me about the future. This is information you MUST know! So send the money and I'll tell you what God told me."). I think the Bible is awesome and it wouldn't surprise me if God built in something as mind staggering as the Bible Code. I just doubt its value as prophecy, going forward; but I can see it as confirmation of things after they have happened. Otherwise, I still believe in plain old visions and the gifts of the Spirit as God's method of revelation. A smart guy with a computer and the right software but no relationship with God, even an atheist, would have an advantage over a real child of God who seeks Him. This situation is untenable to me.

Another thing is the way Hebrew is written. No vowels are written, only consonants. Vowels have to be included contextually, that is the reader will understand what letters to put in depending on what is being said at the time. For example, you might have "lng." Obviously you could put vowels before and after the consonants, even include more that one vowel, to wit: "along, "lung," "long," "ling," etc. This, to me leaves a lot of room for subjective interpretation, especially when there are more than two or three letters.
Written in the Bible, God's name is even ambiguous. Jehovah (yahweh) is written "yhwh." The vowels "a" and "e" have been placed there for centuries as the probable name but even the Jews really don't know. In Jeremiah, God says "JAH" is His name. Oh well, you see why there may be room for error.
Of course the big point is that we are obviously in the last days. Thousands of years ago the Bible predicted that the Jews would be displaced; then return in the last days to their own land to make the "desert bloom." The Jews have planted, for over 50 years, more trees and plants than any country in the world. Also, the Bible makes the statement that Israel's return would be astonishing in that Israel would be reborn in a "single day." In May 1948, Israel was no country on May 13 but WAS one on May 14 (the days may be off a day or two) because the United Nations declared that part of Palestine was officially the nation Israel on that (single) day.
