How to not gain weight while at an all inclusive resort

All inclusive resorts have been rising in popularity in the last decade, with a likelihood that the 9/11 terrorist attacks, and terrorism in general, as well as declining numbers of people using all inclusive resorts due to the economy. These resorts started including all meals as opposed to the included continental breakfasts, and many now include drinks, even alcoholic drinks, in the cost. There are no extra costs to the constant traveler, aside from tips, which many resorts now disallow. How not to gain weight while at an all inclusive resort can be tricky, unless you are an extremely physical person, who exerts more energy than they intake. And restraint helps a lot too.

One great way not to gain weight at an all inclusive resort is to enroll in as many eco-tourist adventures as possible, swim and use the gym as much as you can. Just relaxing on the beach and having the occasional leisurely swim will not get rid of the weight that is gained from access to unlimited gourmet-level foods and desserts. Take strenuous hikes to scenic locations, and use bicycles instead of powered vehicles for getting around. Instead of laying around at the beach in front of your room or cabin, try walking up the beach to different spots each time. Do as much physical activity as you possibly can, and you may even return home in better shape, and looking much healthier than when you left.

With many people opting for the stay-cation instead of spending money at uncertain financial times, all inclusive resorts do draw a greater number of travelers, as they are usually enclosed, keeping the nefarious-minded locals out of the resort. This makes your stay much safer. The problems, of course, with all inclusive resorts is that the food is included, and there are no limits at many of these resorts to the amount of food or drink allowed.

With all inclusive resorts, the food can be very rich in calories. When mixed with a resting vacation, meaning that you will not be burning the extravagant amount of calories that will accompany your food and drinks, and especially desserts, the weight gain can be instant and extreme. It could take a few months at the gym just to get back to your pre-vacation physical fitness level. When you gain a few dress sizes, or have to buy pants with larger waist sizes, you know that you are overdoing it, and need to slow down.

There is nothing wrong with trying all of the new and tasty meals and treats that are offered by all inclusive resorts, many of which employ top chefs and provide extravagant meals in an effort to entice return visits. However, eat smaller portions, there really is no need to finish off all of your plates when the food and drink are free. Drink diet sodas, and have light breakfasts with low calorie counts.

Travel safe, and travel smart.
