iPhone app reviews: pour1out

If you love wasting alcohol but don't like the thought of spending more than 99 cents to do so, then pour1out is the perfect app for you. Pour1out has a very basic premise, and the developers have done enough to describe that premise in colorful language. Basically, all that you have to do is to tip your iPhone so that the drink that appears on the screen will start to pour out some type of drink. Generally, the drink will be alcoholic. This app is for those who know why they should be "pouring one out."

In other words, this app isn't for me. Although the concept is intriguing and very unique, I cannot see myself using this app very often. Good thing that I was able to find someone who downloaded the app when it was still free. They were able to receive all the updates and they can "pour one out" without having spent even a penny.

Although the graphics are good for what the app is, I have to complain about a few graphical aspects. For instance, when you are pouring out the liquor, you do not see any bubbles or splashes. Basically, all you will be able to see is liquid pouring out of a bottle. That is not so fun when you think about pouring real liquid on the ground. When you do that, it sometimes makes some nice fizzing sounds or bubbles, making the whole action fun. But, when you are pouring one out with this app, all you are looking at is a boring waterfall.

Additionally, the bottle does not completely empty. Now, who would pour one out without completely emptying the bottle? The joke would make more sense (or does it even need to?) if the bottle would become completely empty, but it doesn't. Either my friend is going to have to live with the fact that the bottle will never completely empty, or the developers could make a simple update that fixes that.

But, at least the app was free. For those unfortunate few who will want to try this app, and those who don't have access to the app via friends or family members, they will have to pay 99 cents. This seems to me like an exorbitant amount for an app that does not really do anything useful.

Overall, if you have 99 cents to waste, I guess pour1out would be a good choice.
