An app should have a purpose. An app should be useful. An app should probably educate as well as entertain. Does Shotgun Free do any of these? Perhaps to a small group of people, but to me, Shotgun Free is a useless app that does nothing to entertain or educate me. Even if this app were free, even if someone would download it and make it ready to use for me, I would still not use it.

I know that the shotgun is not real. I know that playing this app may relieve, somewhat, my stress. But, I do not think that I would willingly choose to relieve my stress using this app. I just think that people would think I were crazy for pointing a phone away from me and pretending I am shooting something or someone.

Perhaps it is because I do not even like the idea of guns. I do know that sometimes, guns are protective weapons. But, I also know that guns were made with the intent to kill. Even the idea of guns does not sit right with me. Do I like plastic guns? No. Do I want to pretend I am holding a shotgun? No.

Besides, the shotgun itself is not even graphically great. Anybody could have taken a basic template of a shotgun and they could have drawn a better one than the one that is featured on Shotgun Free. Because I did not enjoy this app, I decided to let someone else try it. This person has a fascination for guns and I figured that he would like the app more than I did. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately?) I was wrong. He did not enjoy the app at all. Like me, he complained about the hastily-drawn looking gun, and he did not like that there was no game involved. He would have enjoyed it if the app allowed him to shoot against someone else.

As I always say, the best apps will always be the apps that teach and entertain me at the same time. These apps are becoming harder and harder to find. With that said, I do not think that I can recommend Shotgun Free to anyone. However, because it is free, it wouldn't hurt for you to try it if you were curious enough. But, if you are anything like I am, this app will ultimately disappoint you.
