When it rains
I feel closer to you
because the color gray
surrounding me, forms small droplets
by the millions, colors my emotion , and
reminds me of your eyes.
When it rains
a chair by my window
somehow asks about you,
not understanding anyone
can occupy the place that foolishly, I
choose to reserve for you.
When it rains
a special kind of cold
hugs my bones, and keeping warmth
at bay, it envelops a deep and
lonely chord, whose existence I can deny,
only until you strike it.
When it rains,
I wade in in black puddles
stirring, splashing, thinking
perhaps you will feel the ripples
and at last, awaken, turn your face toward mine,
keeping my damp hopes alive.
