Interactive apps are right up my alley. Sure, I love educational apps and I love the occasional app that isn't interactive at all (though it is useful). However, sometimes I want to spice up my iPhone, and fortunately, I have found a free app to help me do that. ColorCanvas Basic is fun if you have only a couple of minutes to spare or waste. But, that is enough entertainment value to warrant the nonexistent price tag, and I can always use the app whenever I am waiting in line or waiting for something or someone.
ColorCanvas Basic is basically in a category that is unique. Not many apps will have you pull up photos and then tap it so that you can put the color back into the photos. That's because ColorCanvas Basic makes your photos black and white, and when you put your finger on the screen, the color returns to that particular part of the picture. You can also customize the amount of color that goes back in. The photo is shareable with friends and family. ColorCanvas basically helps you make your pictures that much more unique.
However, there are a few cons about ColorCanvas Basic. First, there are no zoom options, so if you want to put the color back into a small face, you will probably get color onto the surrounding environment, too. No zoom means that you are stuck having to work with larger pictures, and we know that most of us cannot take larger pictures (especially if we are using the older versions of the iPhone). Second, the app may sometimes crash, even after having rebooted the phone before initiating the app. This should be easily fixed with an update. And third, the app may do funny things when saving pictures. For example, I tried to save an image and when I opened it back up, the image was a bit fuzzy and had funny white lines around it. If I wanted to send this to my friends and family, I would want it to look as professional as possible.
All in all, I highly recommend ColorCanvas Basic if you love working with photographs and sharing them with your friends and family. ColorCanvas Basic will easily let you do that. There is also ColorCanvas Pro if you want to be able to do more with your pictures. However, for the price of "free," ColorCanvas Basic will keep you interested in your pictures for a little while longer.
